Georgia Cypress Fall Color Tour

Nov 2 -5, 2026

Endless reflection and abstract opportunities abound in the flooded cypress groves.

More mystical cypress groves. Here in this South Georgia location, you will find both bald and pond cypress. The setting is an elongated flat-water pond containing multiple flooded cypress groves that one photographer friend likened to several Benton Ponds (think one of the prime locations in the Caddo Lake complex) strung out on end. It is possible to photograph from shore, but we will also use kayaks to have more complete access to photo locations.

This is a new location for me, and I will be scouting this summer to confirm what I know about the location and logistics. Prime color here conflicts with that at Caddo Lake which has previously prevented me from exploring this option. The image possibilities are endless here, and there is potential for morning fog.

To lessen visitor impact to this unique location I am not posting location on the splash page. If you have asked me about this previously, you know where it is. For those not “in the know” send me an e-mail and we can arrange to discuss further.

The tour is planned for Monday afternoon November 2nd through Friday morning November 5th  to increase the chances of morning fog. During mid-day, if conditions are not conducive to good photography we will do some “classroom” stuff. This also gives us a cushion against bad weather.

The tour is offered at $1795.00 which includes kayak rental for the duration of the 5-day tour.
